accessible  to all.

About this project

Shrimpy Advisory is a registered investment advisor (RIA) that offers an automated financial advice. Advisory chooses groups of cryptocurrencies for the user to purchase based on their risk tolerance profile.

Project Scope.

Easy crypto investment for beginners.

Shrimpy Advisory is an automated wealth-building platform that is designed for beginners to invest in groups of assets. I was the sole designer for this project and took on full art direction for the flows, including login, two factor authentication (2FA) sign up, onboarding quiz, know your customer (KYC) verification design, and the app's dashboard.

The Process

The Research

With the executive team, I worked diligently to define every aspect of our key demographic. During this phase, I did a plethora of  UX Research. I studied our target user to make sure we understood who our customers were. I performed competitive analysis and market research to determine how our brand could stand out from competitors. Armed with this information, we were able to clearly define the brand's tone and positioning.

User Persona

Who is this for?

Shrimpy Advisory is made for mature people who are beginners in investing and crypto. Let's learn more about our user.

User Persona

Ethan's Journey.

Ethan is new to crypto, so he doesn't follow any crypto brands or influencers. The primary influencers in his life are friends and family. Outside of crypto, however, Ethan follows graphic design influencers on Instagram like Timothy Goodman, Rylsee, and Erin Marinovich. Ethan also sometimes goes on Reddit to keep up with world news. Because Ethan is fiscally responsible, he will most likely find Advisory through research of more traditional investment opportunities.

Let it flow.

Information Architecture.

Now that the stakeholders agreed on requirements and we knew our product's purpose, I went to work organizing content in the most logical & efficient way. Below is the user flow for the dashboard. There is pre-step to represent the KYC process that customers must perform periodically for compliance reasons.

Onboarding the user.

Steps in the user's onboarding.

For regulatory compliance reasons, there is a long onboarding process to sign up with Shrimpy Advisory.

For developer's ease, each of these steps was broken into bite sized flows. Each segment had separate user flows, wireframing, and design steps. For the MVP, tons of features will be left out and iterated on and integrated later. For example, performance stats, monthly instead of quarterly statements, and fiat withdrawals will all be implemented at a later date.

Aesthetic Choices

I like your style.

As the lead designer, I had full creative direction over the apps look and feel. Each color was carefully selected to effectively communicate to our users within the interface.

Because crypto is seen as risky, it was important to convey a calm and controlled feeling throughout the majority of the application. The feeling that these colors evoke help the user maintain trust in their investments.

UI Components

Putting it all together.

High-Fidelity Design

When all components come together, they create a unique and effective design. for our users.

The stakeholders at Shrimpy prefer to not use stock photography within their platforms. On the other side of the coin, with only four weeks to create the entire MVP design, there was not much time to prioritize illustrations. With so much to do, I integrated vibrant colors in strategic ways to create a synergistic but still visually appealing design. I kept the visuals minimal, with the only illustrative / design elements being minimal patterns of line.

Extreme makeover,
interface edition.

Developer MVP.

When the requirements had been set, the developers quickly went to work creating the infrastructure for the backend. Because the visuals were not set in stone yet, the barebones mvp got quite the makeover.

To be continued...
